Septimus Jennings starts repairing bicycles as a hobby in his garden shed in the county town of Morpeth, Northumberland.

1911 Jennings becomes a full-time occupation

The hobby turns into a full-time job when Septimus Jennings purchases his first business premises in Morpeth, Northumberland and starts selling bicycles and motor cars. He employs 6 people.

S Jennings registers with Companies House and becomes a Limited company.

Jennings Appointed by Ford Motor Company

The partnership with Ford Motor Company begins when S Jennings Ltd is one of the first dealers in the country to be appointed by Ford Motor Company to sell its cars.

The new Ford Poplar is launched - How the car was promoted in the early years by Jennings Ford in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Alan Bentley takes over as Managing Director following a buyout from the Septimus Jennings family. The second generation of the Ford Escort continues to be a popular choice with small families.

Middlesbrough becomes a multi-franchise supersite following the opening of a SEAT dealership. The 7-acre supersite now houses Ford, Mazda and SEAT.

Nas Khan, who has been Group Sales Director for 13 years, takes over as Group Managing Director following a buyout from former Group Chairman, Alan Bentley. Jennings Ford wins Ford’s Chairman’s Award for outstanding customer service.
