Ultimate performance

Renowned for its exceptional driving experience the MX-5 is now lighter used new technologies and materials making it stronger and lighter than ever – the rear wheel drive is now more fun than ever.  The body shell is made from ultra-high tensile steel that provides a firmer chassis and suspension base improving road handling and reducing the risk of damage in the event of a collision.

So how much does it weigh? With the manual transmission, it tips the scales at a 1,058kg. However if you choose to go for the automatic option you’ll find it just a touch higher at 1,080kg.

Cornering and stability has been improved using Mazda’s Dynamic Stability Control system. When you corner or swerve around an object the system reduces the engine power, regulating braking pressure on individual wheels helping you keep control.  A Traction Control System prevents the wheels from spinning on challenging or slippery surfaces including loose stones by  regulating the torque of the engine.
