A dedicated member of staff at Jennings Mazda, part of the Jennings Motor Group, has received a promotion within nine months of being recruited within the dealership’s busy sales department.
Last July, Alex Irving, 29, from Middlesbrough, joined the group’s Cargo Fleet Lane dealership in Middlesbrough, as a sales executive.
Responsible for selling the new Mazda model line-up, in addition to quality used cars to customers in and around Teesside, Alex has recently taken on the additional role of deputy Motability specialist.
Franchise manager, James Chorlton, was responsible for putting Alex forward for the relevant training course, he said; “Alex’s potential was recognised within a very short period of time, he is a dedicated and committed member and an asset to both the sales and Motability team at the dealership.”
In addition to selling new and used cars to customers, part of Alex’s role now includes working alongside the dealership’s Motability specialist, Martin Broad, where he assists and advises customers who are eligible to purchase a car through the Motability programme.
Prior to joining Jennings Mazda, Alex spent a number of years living and working abroad, including Portugal for three years and most recently Amsterdam, where he gained experience working in retail sales for Nike.
He has also gained valuable customer service experience working in the hospitality business and as a car valeter.
At the beginning of last year, Alex and his wife, Anique, decided to move back to the UK and that was when his search for full-time employment began.
Alex said; “I needed to find full-time employment and after submitting my CV at the dealership, I was asked to attend an interview. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to pursue a career within the motor industry.
“The training I have recently completed allows me to assist the dealership’s Motability customers, which I am very much looking forward to.”
Jennings Mazda sells the entire range of Mazda models everything from the all-new Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, MX-5 and CX-5 is on display and available to test drive. Customers can also look forward to the arrival of the all-new CX-3 and MX-5 models, which are expected to arrive in the showroom later this year.
The Motability programme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair by exchanging their Government funded mobility allowance providing they are in receipt of either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA), the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP), the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).
