An ambitious youngster from South Shields has embarked on a career in motors and it’s all thanks to JenningsFord.

18-year-old, Adam Bravy, has joined the service department as a Motor Technician Apprentice and he’s no stranger to staff at the group’s Riverside Road dealership, just off Wessington Way in Sunderland.

A former pupil of King George V Secondary School in South Shields, Adam spent two weeks work experience within the service department at JenningsFord’s dealership in Sunderland.

After leaving school he was keen to study and embarked on a two-year Automotive Vehicle Maintenance course at South Tyneside College. Adam successfully completed the course with distinctions in Level 2 B-TEC in Vehicle Technology.

Following completion he was keen to get his hands dirty and gain more practical experience and a friend of the family pointed him in the direction of the Apprenticeship programme.

“I’ve always had an interest in cars and heard about the Apprenticeship programme through a friend of the family,” said Adam.

Adam will complete a three-year programme, which involves on-the-job training, in addition to on-going assessments and block release training at Gateshead College.

Delighted to welcome the youngster on board, Ian Grant, service manager at JenningsFord in Sunderland, said; “The Ford Apprenticeship programme is an excellent opportunity for youngsters, who are looking to take that first step on the career ladder.”

“Adam showed he had potential when he came to us for work experience, this coupled with his relevant experience and qualifications made him a perfect candidate to join our successful Apprenticeship programme, which allows youngsters to achieve nationally recognised qualifications through work-based training.”

At the end of the Programme, as well as being awarded Ford Motor Technician status, Adam will also be given the opportunity to progress through to the Ford Masters Technician status. This includes three levels of accreditation; service Maintenance Technician, Diagnostic Technician and Master Technician status.
