An ambitious young man who had his career dream shattered - is on the road to a successful career thanks to JenningsFord.
From a very young age, Andrew Goessen, 19, from Hebburn, always wanted to join the Royal Air Force.
After leaving St Joseph’s RC Comprehensive School with 14 GCSEs, Andrew filled in an application form for the RAF. Following various tests and medicals, he discovered he was colour blind which unfortunately jeopardised his chances of signing up.
“I was completely devastated and couldn’t believe it,” said Andrew.
Despite the knock back, Andrew went on to sign up for a three-year course in Public Uniform Services at South Tyneside College, but after a couple of years he decided it wasn’t the right course for him.
Keen to change his career path completely, he started looking for a job in IT.
“I’ve always loved working with computers and when I saw the job advertised for an IT Administrator at JenningsFord Direct in South Shields, I just knew it was the perfect role for me,” said Andrew.
Following an interview with senior management at the Newcastle Road dealership, Andrew was offered the job there and then.
Andrew said; “I couldn’t believe it, I was over the moon when I was told the job was mine if I wanted it.”
In his new role, Andrew is responsible for updating the dealership’s prospect system, in addition to the e-business centre and e-dealer facility, controlling general stock on the group’s website, liaising with and reporting to the sales manager and delegating prospective leads to the sales team.
“It’s great. I absolutely love it and I’m grateful to have been given this excellent opportunity with such a well respected and long established company as JenningsFord.”
Despite not being able to pursue his initial career dream, Andrew strongly believes that everything happens for a reason;
He went on to say; “It’s all turned out alright in the end and I’m just grateful to be in a job that I enjoy so much.”
Gavin Moffatt, sales manager at JenningsFord Direct in South Shields, said; “It was evident at the interview that Andrew is a dedicated and committed individual who is keen to succeed.”
“We are delighted to welcome him on board.”comments powered by
