Apprenticeship programme is a cut above for dedicated Bethany

A complete career change has steered an ambitious teenager towards an Apprenticeship programme at Jennings Ford, part of the award-winning Jennings Motor Group.
19-year-old Bethany Hayden, from Stockton, has exchanged her hairdressing equipment for a computer and desk after being taken on as an Apprentice service advisor at Jennings Ford’s Yarm Road dealership in Stockton.
The one-year Apprenticeship programme will see Bethany learning all aspects of sales and customer service within the service department at the Stockton branch through on-the-job training and continuous assessments.
Delighted to have been given the opportunity to progress a career and learn new skills within the motor industry, Bethany, said;
“The Apprenticeship programme not only allows me to gain valuable hands-on experience by learning from members of staff qualified in their field, but it also allows me to work towards achieving additional and nationally recognised qualifications, in addition to earning a wage at the same time.”
Working within the busy service department, Bethany’s responsibilities include liaising with existing and potential customers, arranging bookings, processing orders and taking enquiries.
After leaving Bishopsgarth Comprehensive School in Stockton at the age of 16, Bethany started fulfilling a lifelong ambition to become a hairdresser and after studying for one year at Riverside College, she then went on to train at the Contemporary Hair Academy for another 12 months.
Despite gaining relevant hairdressing qualifications and spending six months barbering, Bethany decided it just wasn’t for her and started looking for alternative employment within the motor industry.
Bethany added; “I was delighted when I was offered the Apprenticeship with Jennings Ford and I am looking forward to learning new skills in a completely different field of work.”
Bethany is part of Jennings Motor Group’s on-going commitment to the Apprenticeship programme. Since May last year, a total of 26 youngsters have been appointed through Apprentices across various departments including service, sales, parts and accounts.
Ian Grant, service manager at the Jennings Ford dealership in Stockton, said; “Bethany is very keen and committed individual and an asset to the service team at Stockton.”
Jennings Ford sells the entire Ford model line-up, in addition to catering for customers after sales needs with a service, bodyshop and parts department available at the dealership.
