A complete career change is paying off for an employee at Jennings Kia, part of the multi-award winning Jennings Motor Group, who has received his first promotion within two years of joining the company.
25-year-old, Chris Lamb, from Billingham, always had an ambition to be a PE teacher, but after completing a three year degree in Sport Development with Coaching at Northumbria University, he decided to completely change his career.

After spending a period of time gaining valuable customer service experience as a store assistant in retail sales, Chris landed a job working as a sales executive and started selling new and used cars at Jennings Kia’s Washington branch.
In 2013, when the company launched a new purpose-built 20-car showroom in Teesside, Chris transferred from the Washington dealership to work as a sales executive at the Stockton branch.
Within a couple of months, he received a promotion to Motability specialist, which now sees him being responsible for the dealership’s Motability customers, in addition to carrying out his role as sales executive.
Chris said; “I’m delighted to have been given this excellent opportunity and looking forward to providing a service to Motability customers across Teesside. The Kia Motability programme allows disabled drivers to take advantage of a worry-free car leasing package.
“Those eligible can exchange their weekly payment to lease a new car with a wide range of compact and mid-size models, to MPV’s SUV’s available at Jennings Kia.”
To qualify for a vehicle through Motability, customers must be in receipt of the higher rate Motability component of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pensioners’ Motability Supplement (WPMS).
In addition to the option of being able to choose a new car every three years and nominate up to two drivers, the package also includes insurance, replacement tyres, servicing and maintenance, windscreen replacement, full RAC breakdown assistance, annual car tax, a 60,000 mileage allowance over the three-year lease, as well as many adaptations at no extra cost to the customer.”
Steven Flack, franchise manager at Jennings Kia in Stockton, said; “Chris is an asset to the sales team and the promotion to Motability specialist will allow him to broaden his experience in this field.”
The Jennings Kia dealership is also able to cater for customer’s aftersales needs with a service, MOT and parts department on site at the Concorde Way dealership.
