Danielle is on the road to a successful career

When an ambitious young lady from Boldon started working part-time at JenningsFord Direct in South Shields, she had no idea the job would lead to full-time employment, a promotion and extra qualifications.
In September 2005, Danielle Hughes, 20, was appointed as a part-time receptionist to cover a member of staff who was on maternity leave at the Group’s Newcastle Road dealership in South Shields.
Within no time at all, Danielle’s potential was recognised by the bosses at the motor dealership and in April 2007, she was offered full-time employment.
Continuing to work part-time on reception, Danielle also started gaining valuable hands on experience working in the accounts department.
“I thoroughly enjoyed working on reception because you get to meet and greet people, which was great for me because I’m very much a people person,” said Danielle.
“For a short period I also gained experience working in sales administration, but it wasn’t until I started working as an assistant in the accounts department, when I seriously started considering a career in accountancy.”
Thanks to her employer for giving her the opportunity and support not only to further her career, but also gain extra qualifications, Danielle is now working as a full-time accounts administrator and is about to embark on an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Qualification through Kaplan Financial Approach.
“It’s great. Not only has the job developed into a full-time position, but it’s also resulted in a promotion and given me the opportunity to gain extra qualifications.”
“I’m delighted to have been given this excellent opportunity and I’m really looking forward to starting the AAT course and furthering my career with Jennings.”
Initially, Danielle will complete a six-month Foundation Course, which will be followed by an Intermediate course and a number of Technician status courses, before she achieves her AAT Qualification.
Commenting on Danielle’s success, John Hepple, group accountant, said; “From the very first day Danielle started working for us, it was evident she was an ambitious youngster with determination to succeed.”
John added; “We are very much a company committed to training and developing our staff and Danielle is a prime example of the endless job opportunities which are available to staff.”
After leaving school with 11 GCSE’s, Danielle embarked on a two-year travel and tourism course at South Tyneside College, which she passed with flying colours.
“I always wanted to work as a cabin crew attendant, but when I got the job at JenningsFord Direct, I knew it was the right move for me and I can honestly say that I haven’t looked back since.”comments powered by
