It was a double celebration at Jennings Motor Group’s branch in Sunderland recently when two members of staff were rewarded for their loyalty to the company.
Business centre manager, Ray Cardwell and commercial sales manager, Steve Harvey, have achieved a combined 45 years’ loyalty to the company and are both based at the group’s Riverside Road dealership.
Dedicated Ray, 61, from Seaton Burn, has been employed by Jennings for the past 25 years. Ray joined the company in 1986 when he was appointed to set up and develop a new contract hire/leasing and fleet department at the group’s dealership in Washington, formerly known as Jennings Ford.
In 1996, following the launch of Ford’s South Tyneside Business Centre, Ray was promoted to business centre manager, the position he holds today. In his current role, Ray is responsible for providing tailor made packages to meet the needs and demands of the local business community, in addition to catering for multi-national companies purchasing high volume Ford and Mazda fleet vehicles.
In 2007, the Business Centre transferred to new premises located on Riverside Road, just off Riverside Road in Sunderland.
Meanwhile 49-year-old, Steve, from Ryton, embarked on a career in the motor industry 20 years ago when in 1992 he was appointed as a commercial vehicle valeter.
Keen to make the switch from cleaning to selling commercial vehicles, Steve was given the opportunity to gain experience working as an administration assistant. Later, he started selling new and used commercial vehicles.
In 2001, Steve’s potential as a manager was recognised by his director and he was promoted to commercial vehicle sales manager, the same position he hold today.
Prior to joining Jennings Ford, Steve worked as a maintenance fitter for Bridon Fibres, based in Gateshead.
The presentation took place at the group’s Sunderland dealership where managing director, Nas Khan, presented the loyalty vouchers to Ray and Steve.
Nas said; “I would like to take this opportunity to wish both Ray and Steve many congratulations on achieving a combined 45 years’ loyalty.”
Nas added; “As a company we pride ourselves not only on the extremely high standard of customer and after sales service we provide, but also our loyal and dedicated workforce, all of whom have and continue to contribute towards the on-going success of the company.”
Last year a total of 31 members of staff across the group were individually rewarded after achieving a combined total of 635 years’ loyal service.
