Dedicated duo reap rewards for continuous loyalty to their employer, Jennings Ford

Two dedicated members of staff at Jennings Ford, part of the Jennings Motor Group, have been rewarded after achieving a combined 45 years’ loyalty with the company.

Mark Thompson, 47, from Dunston in Gateshead and Ryan Hardy, 31, from Low Fell, both work within the service department at the group’s Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead.

In addition to celebrating their loyalty at the same, the dedicated duo have a number of other things in common – they both started working at the dealership after leaving school, they both secured full-time employment following Apprenticeship programmes after becoming Ford approved motor vehicle technicians and they have both received promotions.

Celebrating 30 years of service is Mark who joined the dealership after leaving school at the age of 16 when he embarked on a Youth Training Scheme.  Over the years, not only has he worked his way up the ranks with various promotions, but he has also been given the opportunity to gain additional qualifications.

Joining the then Peter Garven’s dealership, after spending one year on the YT Scheme, Mark embarked on an Apprenticeship within the service department and four years later became a Ford approved motor technician.

In 2003, after a number of intense training and practical examinations, Mark was one of the region’s first technicians to qualify in a ground breaking initiative, which was governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry, and achieved his Ford Masters Technician status. At the time, Mark was one of only 50 technicians nationwide to achieve the accreditation.

In 2006, Mark was promoted from a Master Technician to workshop controller, the same position he holds today.

Ryan joined Jennings Ford after leaving Joseph Swan Comprehensive School at the age of 16 and embarked on a three-year Apprenticeship programme to become a Ford approved motor vehicle technician.

Seven years ago, he received a promotion to senior technician status, the same role he carries out today. 

To mark the dedicated duos combined achievement, a presentation took place at the dealership where service manager, Ian Stewart presented Mark and Ryan with their loyalty vouchers, in addition to receiving certificates.

Service manager, Ian Stewart, said; “Both Mark and Ryan are committed and dedicated individuals who have gained valuable experience and knowledge over the years.”

Throughout 2015, a total of 28 members of staff across the group will receive a combined 565 years’ loyalty to the company.  Staff receive rewards after accruing 15 years of loyalty, then they are presented after every five years.
