Five local couples have been set a challenge to raise as much money as possible for a local charity – but they’ve only got one week to do it.
The challenge, which has been set by TFM Radio, is part of their Five Brides One Wedding promotion and involves five couples raising as much money as possible for TFM Radio’s Cash for Kids charity.
The hard work will be rewarded with an ultimate wedding package worth £25,000 to the couple who raise the most amounts of cash for the charity.
The promotion, which is being sponsored by Jennings Motor Group and its Ford, Mazda and SEAT dealerships in Teesside, generated a phenomenal response with more than 600 applications being received from couples across the region keen to take part.
From the 600 applicants, 20 couples were then short listed and invited to take part in a Bridal Boot Camp, which took place at Crathorne Hall Hotel in Yarm.
The Boot Camp entailed the 20 selected couples taking part in a number of tasks and challenges before a panel of judges. 20 couples then became 10 and the final five were selected following the ‘Wedding Vow’ challenge.
Dawn Carney, Manager of TFM Radio’s Cash for Kids, said; “The five successful couples now have the biggest challenge of their lives. They have one week to raise thousands of pounds for our charity, which will benefit local sick, disabled and disadvantaged children. The couple that raises the most money will win a complete wedding package worth approximately £25,000. The winner will be announced on Monday 27th April, live on TFM radio.”
Dressed in the elegant and stylish attire of marriage, the race is now on for the five finalists who are Nicola Smith and David Richardson, from Stockton, Lisa White and Alan Thom, from Newton Aycliffe, Wendy Moss and Alex Stone, from Hartlepool, Katie Johns and William Marley, from Darlington and Kendra Blackett and Matthew Hulbert, from Spennymoor, to raise as much cash as they can for sick, disabled and deprived children throughout Teesside.
In order to assist the couples with the challenge, Jennings Motor Group has supplied five vehicles from its Ford, Mazda and SEAT dealerships.
The deadline for the fundraising is at 10am on Sunday 26th April. The winner will be announced live on air on Monday 27th April by Graham Mack on the TFM Radio breakfast show.

Cash for Kids is a registered children’s charity which aims to raise funds to make longer term difference to the lives of children from birth to 17 years, within Tees Valley, North Yorkshire and South County Durham.
