FORD FOCUS ST CUSTOMERS OPT TO BUY WITHOUT A TEST DRIVE
Posted on 28 Aug 2012
The new 250PS Ford Focus ST model has been causing a stir at Jennings Ford’s branch in Gateshead where customers are so impressed with the performance hatchback, they are bypassing the normal ‘try before you buy’ procedure.
The Eslington Park dealership was one of the first branches in the region to take delivery of the latest performance hatchback last month and within a couple of days the same model was sold to a customer who so impressed, he made a purchase there and then.
Despite the imminent arrival of another demonstrator model to the dealership, it appears that customers are bypassing the usual test driving method, which enables customers to test the product and spend time before making that final purchasing decision.
Customers are so impressed and keen to get their hands on Ford’s latest performance hatchback ST model they are happy and confident to make a purchase without taking the model for a spin first.
Barry Fearon, sales manager at Jennings Ford in Gateshead, said; “The normal procedure when purchasing a new or used car is to take the model for a test drive first, which enables the customer to test the road handling and overall performance of the vehicle.
“Customers are so keen to get their hands on the new Focus ST model they are completely happy and confident to bypass the usual test drive procedure by placing orders direct at the dealership, which further demonstrates customer confidence in the Ford ST product range.”
Powered by an advanced, direct injection 2.0-litre, all alloy, turbocharged, four cylinder EcoBoost engine, the new Ford Focus ST develops 250PS, yet remains capable of returning 39.2mpg and C02 emissions of 169g/km – 20 per cent better than its predecessor.
Unique suspension, non-linear variable-ratio steering and performance brakes have all been specifically tuned, while striking central exhaust, imposing trapezoidal front grille and event the Tangerine Scream paint option which were inspired by the original Ford Focus ST Concept, have been brought to production.
The Focus ST is available in both hatchback and estate bodystyles, proving that practicality need not compromise style or performance, with a high level of comfort, safety and convenience features standard on both.
Standard UK specification includes Ford Power keyless start, Recaro seats, DAB radio, Bluetooth and 18inch alloy wheels, with the range-topping ST3 model adding heated leather seats, Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and keyless entry.
Additional sports styling options include rad-grey alloy wheels, red brake callipers and illuminated scuff plates.
