Group’s new ‘off road’ centre leads to ‘off road’ training for staff

When Jennings Motor Group decided to expand its supersite in Middlesbrough to incorporate a 4x4 Centre for customers, it was imperative that staff completed the necessary training.
4x4 centre sales executives, Jed Thirkell and Nick Rowland, in addition to commercial vehicle sales executives Ian Torbet, Mark Brown and Keith Brown, took time out of the showroom and instead spent a day gaining practical hands on experience at Weardale Off Road Centre, near Wolsingham.
The training consisted of an intense theory session in the morning, which was followed by an afternoon experiencing the thrills and spills of ‘off road’ driving in a Ford Ranger on Weardale Valley with professional 4x4 instructor, Selwyn Kendricks, supervising individuals.
Alan Bailes, general manager for the recently launched 4x4 centre and the commercial centre, said; “It’s important to have the knowledge about the product you’re selling, but being given the opportunity to gain practical hands on experience, is just as important.”
“The Ford Ranger, which is engineered for fun and freedom both on and off the road, was the perfect vehicle for the training.”
The Cargo Fleet Lane site’s new 4x4 Centre boasts an extensive range of nearly new and used 4x4 vehicles, including the Ford Ranger, Land Rover, Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Honda.
