Ian receives second loyalty reward at Jennings Ford

A member of staff from Jennings Ford, part of the award-winning Jennings Motor Group, has received a second reward for his loyalty to the company.
Ian Douglas, 42, from Swalwell, has clocked two decades of loyalty at the group’s Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead.
This is the second time Ian, who works as a parts advisor, has received loyalty rewards from his employer, having also been rewarded after achieving 15 years with the company in 2009.
To mark the special occasion, group parts manager Kevin Gibbon, presented Ian with his loyalty vouchers and certificate at the dealership.
Kevin said; “In addition to having a loyal customer database, the majority of our staff are also loyal and longstanding.
“Not only is Ian a loyal member of staff, but he is also very committed and dedicated and will pull out all of the stops for his customers to ensure they receive the highest level of service.”

After leaving school at the age of 16, Ian embarked on an Apprenticeship programme with another motor dealer in the region. After serving his time, he soon became a fully-fledged motor vehicle technician until he was faced with redundancy and unfortunately spent 12 months being unemployed.
That was until 1994, when he secured a part-time job at Jennings Ford, formerly known as Peter Garvin, and was taken on as a parts delivery driver. Within a few months, his hours increased and he was once again, working full-time.
Over the years, Ian has worked his way up the ranks to his current role of parts advisor, which involves him being responsible for liaising with customers and the group’s service and bodyshop departments, processing orders, checking and monitoring stock control and when necessary, delivering parts to customers.
Ian said; “I love the customer-facing aspect of the job, it gives me great job satisfaction being able to help people.”
According to Ian, being loyal to an employer is down to being content in your role, he added;
“I’ve always enjoyed what I do and been happy in my job. The company’s loyalty programme is a great incentive for staff.”
Throughout 2014, 31 members of staff across the group will be rewarded for achieving a combined 675 years’ loyalty.
