Jennings Kia technician achieves top status

When it comes to diagnosing, repairing and replacing parts under the bonnet, a member of staff at Jennings Kia, part of the multi-award winning Jennings Motor Group, is top of the class, after achieving Master technician status.

In just under a year, Ross Cave, 29, from Durham, has achieved the highest level a motor vehicle technician can be awarded, after successfully completing various practical and theory examinations through Kia Academy Training Centre in Nottingham and officially becoming a Master technician.

Dedicated Ross has always worked as a motor vehicle technician after completing a three-year Apprenticeship programme through Tyneside Training Services when he left secondary school at the age of 16.

After gaining valuable experience and knowledge working for other motor dealers in the region, in 2009, Ross was appointed as a motor vehicle technician at Jennings Motor Group’s service department, based on Parsons Road in Washington.

Ross said; “My goal has always been to achieve Master technician status and to have been given this excellent opportunity, is absolutely fantastic.”

Ross is one of two Master technicians responsible for diagnosing, repairing and replacing parts for customers at the Washington-based Kia service department.

Commenting on the recent achievement, service manager, June Appleyard, said; “Achieving the highest level possible in the industry, is a true testimony to Ross’s continued hard work and commitment.”

The service department at Washington has a dedicated team of staff, including service receptionists and advisors, technicians and Master technicians, in addition to drivers and a workshop foreman and controller.

The team of technicians is responsible for carrying out service and MOTs on customers cars, using the latest tools and diagnostic equipment and genuine Kia parts.
