Jennings Motor Group steps in to support region’s biggest cycling event

For the fourth consecutive year, Jennings Motor Group supported one of the UK’s biggest cycling events.

When organisers of the Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge, which offers a full weekend of cycling events suitable for everyone of all ages and ranges in ability from recreational cyclists to World Class Olympic riders, were looking for a reliable sponsor to provide a fleet of reliable support vehicles – they turned to Jennings Motor Group.

A Ford Transit van was provided for the duration of the event and a total of seven Ford and Mazda vehicles were allocated for the finale of the weekend, the Beaumont Trophy, which is now a British Cycling Premier Calendar event.

The vehicles were donated from the group’s Ford and Mazda branches across the region and were filled with fuel and in place for the last event of the weekend, which witnessed over 100 of the very best cyclists in Britain, some of whom are current Olympic Gold Medallists who competed for the trophy.

Other events over the course of the weekend included the Newcastle Leazes Criteriums, which took place in Leazes Park, Newcastle and involved cyclists of all ages covering a course around the park.

The Cyclone Challenge included more than 3543 club and recreational cyclists taking to the roads of Newcastle and Northumberland, with many of the cyclists riding on behalf of different charities.

Graeme Armstrong, finance director and company secretary, said; “Once again, we were delighted to be able to support such a prestigious event, which is now the biggest of its type in the UK.”
