Jennings website steers Mark on new career path

When an ambitious man from North Tyneside was looking to change his career, he turned to the internet and found the perfect job at Jennings Ford Direct in South Shields.

For the past 5 years, Mark Taylor, 26, from Whitley Bay, has worked in a sales capacity within the retail industry having worked as an assistant manager at the Robert Leonard’s franchise at Boundary Mills in Shiremoor. That was until he made the switch from the retail sector to the motor industry.

“I’ve always had a passion for motors and I knew I wanted to work in car sales,” said Mark.

“I surfed a few sites and spotted the vacancy at Jennings Ford Direct on Newcastle Road. After a couple of interviews, I was offered the job and gladly accepted. There’s such a friendly atmosphere and everyone is so warm and welcoming.”

Mark’s new role entails working as part of a nine-strong sales team, achieving sales objectives and liaising with both existing and potential customers.

Already Mark has been extending his product knowledge and also gaining some hands on experience after successfully completing a number of training courses. The first involved test driving the all-new Ford Mondeo at Ford’s training ground in Loughborough, in addition to attending and completing Ford’s ‘True Blue’ general knowledge training programme.

“It’s great to be given training, which has helped me immensely. At the end of the day, you can’t sell a product if you don’t know anything about it.”

Gavin Moffatt, sales manager at Jennings Ford Direct in South Shields, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark on board. Despite not having any experience in motor sales, Mark is proving to be an asset to the team and already has secured a substantial amount of sales.”
