Kevin Anstey, 18, from Chester-le-Street in County Durham, is the latest trainee to join the motor dealer group after securing an Apprenticeship within the company’s busy IT department, which is based at Jennings Ford’s Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead.
As a group systems Apprentice, the next 12 months will see Kevin gaining valuable on-the-job experience, in addition to working towards a number of National Vocational Qualifications.
Assisting group IT manager, Martyn Hepple, and his team, Kevin will learn new skills in all aspects of IT with the overall aim to help with support and development of all IT and communication systems, in addition to assisting with system installations, developments and updates across the group.
Kevin was studying towards his ‘A’ Level qualifications when he decided he wanted to take the Apprenticeship route and found the ideal opportunity available at Jennings Motor Group.
Kevin said; “Making the change from studying to becoming an Apprentice was a big step, but I knew it was the right choice for me, because as well as being keen to achieve additional qualifications, I also wanted to learn new skills and gain practical ‘hands-on’ experience through working with professionals who are trained in their field.
“The Apprenticeship programme offers the best of both worlds, and you also get to earn a wage at the same time - which is an added bonus.”
Jennings Motor Group’s managing director, Nas Khan OBE said; “We are dedicated and committed to providing Apprenticeship opportunities to youngsters and over the years there has been a substantial increase in the number of Apprentices being recruited across the group, in addition to the type of Apprenticeships being available.
“In the past, it was the more traditional trade type of Apprenticeships in aftersales including service, bodyshop and the parts department that were available, but in recent years, we have expanded and developed this to include a variety of other departments, such as sales, administration, accounts and IT.”
Jennings Motor Group operates 12 dealerships representing Ford, Kia, Mazda, SEAT and Mitsubishi, including Ford Transit Centres, a Ford Direct dealership and a Used Car Outlet.
In recent years, the company has expanded rapidly and diversified into selling and servicing motorcycles, following the takeover of Leeds Harley-Davidson® and the opening of a new Harley-Davidson® dealership in Gateshead, as well as venturing into the catering industry with the opening of a SUBWAY® franchise at its Kia dealership in Stockton, Teesside.comments powered by
