A member of staff at Jennings Ford Direct in South Shields has been rewarded for achieving 25 years’ loyalty to the company.

Martyn Tinmouth, 49, from Hutton Henry in County Durham, has been working within the service department at the group’s Newcastle Road dealership, since 1987.

Martyn’s career in the motor industry started when he left school and embarked on a three-year Apprenticeship programme with the aim to become a qualified mechanic.

Following completion of his Apprenticeship, Martyn spent another two years working towards a higher tech certificate at the former Wearside College in Sunderland.

Later, he was appointed as a service receptionist at the Jennings Ford Direct dealership. Within a few years he was promoted to warranty administrator, the same position he holds today.

As warranty administrator, Martyn is responsible for submitting warranty claims to Ford Motor Company and liaising with customers to keep them up-to-date with their claims.

According to loyal Martyn, the best part about his job is dealing with his customers, he said; “As a company, we strive to provide the highest level of customer service. It gives me a great deal of job satisfaction knowing that customers are happy with the service they’ve received when their car has been serviced at Jennings.”

The Newcastle Road dealership has been presented with Ford’s most prestigious award for customer satisfaction, ‘The Chairman’s Award’ on two separate occasions.

The loyalty presentation took place when Jeff Appleyard, service manager at Jennings Ford Direct, handed the vouchers to Martyn.

Jeff said; “It was a pleasure presenting Martyn with his loyalty vouchers for his 25 years’ service. He is an extremely conscientious and dedicated member of staff and an asset to the service team at Shields.”
