A loyal and dedicated member of staff at Jennings Ford has transferred to take over the reins as manager at another service department within the group.

Brian Johnston, 58, from South Shields, has transferred from the group’s Newcastle Road dealership in South Shields, where he has been service manager/aftersales manager for nearly three decades and taken over the same role at the group’s Ford and Mazda service department on Parsons Road in Washington.

Being responsible for the day-to-day running of the busy Ford and Mazda service department, is a challenge Brian is very much looking forward to.

“Although I have worked at our South Shields branch for so many years and forged many friendships with colleagues and customers, the move to Washington is an exciting challenge for me,” said Brian Johnston.

Brian will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, achieving monthly, quarterly and annual sales objectives set out by Jennings, Ford Motor Company and Mazda, overseeing a team of technicians, workshop controllers and service receptionists, in addition to ensuring customers continuously receive the highest level of customer service.

Nicky Dalkin, operations director for Jennings Motor Group, said; “Brian is a loyal employee and is completely dedicated and committed to his job and to his staff.

“Over the years, he has achieved Ford’s most prestigious ‘Chairman’s Award’ for high levels of customer service on three separate occasions, which is a true testimony to his continuous hard work.”

Brian’s career in motors, started as soon as he left school. At the age of 15, he was taken on as an apprentice mechanic at the former F Rounthwaite Garage, which was located adjacent to the company’s Ford Direct dealership in South Shields.

In 1972, he was taken on as a mechanic at the JenningsFord Direct branch, formerly known as Selwoods of South Shields. Seven years later, Brian decided it was time for a change and started gaining experience on the service desk as a service receptionist, prior to working as a workshop controller.

In 1981, Brian was promoted to service manager/aftersales manager, a position he holds today. Over the years, he has gained valuable experience working at a number of the group’s dealerships across the region.
