MD'S HAIR TODAY, GONE TOMORROW BATH PLUNGE FOR CHARITY

A philanthropic local businessman took a bold decision to do something funny for money when he plunged into a bath of baked beans for this year’s Comic Relief.
Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group, which operates Ford, Mazda, SEAT and Kia dealerships across Teesside and Tyne and Wear, plunged into a bath of beans at the group’s Kia franchise on Parsons Road in Washington and it was all to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
And if that wasn’t enough, the benevolent managing director and founder of The Emaan Foundation charity, also agreed to have his head shaved.

Nas Khan, said; “Kia is a supporting Partner of this year’s Red Nose Day and our dealership in Washington has been pulling out all of the stops to raise as much money as possible through various fundraising activities.
“As a charity organiser and fundraiser myself, I understand and appreciate how difficult it is to raise money let alone reach fundraising targets, which is one of the reasons I agreed to take part.
“I have had very encouraging support from family, friends and staff. It all got a bit messy but at the end of the day it was fun and it has boosted the fundraising total which is fantastic and certainly makes it all worthwhile.”
ASAP Plumbing and Heating from Springwell Village in Gateshead supplied and delivered the bath to the showroom for the managing director’s stunt for charity,
while Makro store in Washington kindly donated three cases of baked beans and despite it being Ashleigh Gaunt’s day off from White’s Hair Design in Shiney Row, she agreed to travel to the showroom to carry out the head shave.
Comic Relief launched Red Nose Day in 1988. Over the years, money raised has been used to transform the lives of people in both the UK and across Africa.
Nas’s own charity, The Emaan Foundation, is in the final phase of a fundraising appeal to rebuild a village for the people of Rahim Yar Khan, south of Punjab in Pakistan, following the floods in 2010. For more information visit www.emaanfoundation.org
