Jennings Motor Group has handed a cheque for more than five thousand pounds to local charity, Teesside Hospice.

The motor dealer group, which operates Ford, Kia, Mazda, SEAT and Mitsubishi dealerships across the region, pledged its support to the Middlesbrough-based Hospice at the beginning of the year, when it was selected as the company’s nominated charity for 2015.

Two events, including a Golf Day held at Teesside Golf Club and a Soul/Motown dance, which took place at Great Ayton Church Hall, have resulted in the recent cheque donation.

Jennings Motor Group’s managing director, Nas Khan, said; “We are delighted to be able to continue to give our support to the Hospice, which relies heavily on donations and support from local businesses and the general public, in order to continue to provide specialist care to people across the region.”

An official presentation took place at the group’s Ford dealership, based on Cargo Fleet Lane in Middlesbrough, where Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group and his PA, Bev Stephenson, handed a cheque for £5039.46 to Maureen Thompson, chief executive of Teesside Hospice.

Throughout the year, a series of successful fundraising events have taken place and by the end of 2015, the grand total raised by staff at the motor dealer group, is expected to be in excess of £12,000.

Maureen Thompson, chief executive of Teesside Hospice, said; “We are delighted to have this support from Jennings Motor Group.  The donation will fund one full day of specialist palliative care across all of the Hospice’s services, including Inpatient Care, Day Care Service, Outpatient clinic and Bereavement Counselling.”

15 male members of staff at the group’s Middlesbrough dealership are in the process of raising additional funds for the Hospice, after volunteering not to shave throughout the month of November.

Established in 1982, Teesside Hospice is partly funded by the NHS, but still needs to raise approximately £5200 each day of the year via its own resources, in order to provide specialist palliative care for local people suffering from advanced cancer and other life limiting illness.

Jennings Motor Group operates Ford, Kia, Mazda, SEAT and Mitsubishi dealerships covering Teesside, Wearside, South Tyneside and Tyneside.
