New, ‘fit for purpose’ vehicle fleet for housing company
Posted on 23 Jul 2008
When a local housing company needed to order a large number of vehicles for its housing operations and repair service, they turned to a local Ford dealer they knew they could rely on.
Coast & Country Housing, based in Redcar, has just taken delivery of the last batch of vehicles which have been supplied and specifically adapted by JenningsFord’s Commercial Centre on Cargo Fleet Lane in Middlesbrough.
When the time came for Coast & Country Housing to replace their existing fleet of vehicles, they issued a formal tender which specified certain criteria, including the requirement to consider the Ford badge. The tender was won by Lex Vehicle Leasing who in turn agreed with Coast & Country Housing that JenningsFord would be appointed as the preferred Ford supplier.
Not only did the vehicles have to be reliable, economical and within the company’s allocated budget, but they also had to be specifically adapted with internal racking, inverters which enable electronic appliances to be used in the vehicles. In addition, the exterior of the vehicles had to prominently display the company name, logo and contact details.
Iain Sim, Coast & Country Housing’s chief executive, said;
“The quality, specification, economy and reliability of the vehicles used by Coast & Country Housing’s operations and property maintenance are vital components to providing a top class service to our tenants.”
“Therefore, it was imperative that a set of exacting standards and criteria was met when it came to awarding the contract for our fleet of new cars and vans.”
“JenningsFord’s Commercial Centre in Middlesbrough have fulfilled the remit outlined by Coast & Country Housing, including adapting the vehicles to our specific requirement.”
As soon as the Commercial Centre at JenningsFord in Middlesbrough received confirmation that they had been awarded the contract an order for 128 vehicles, which consisted of a variety of Ford Fiesta cars, Fiesta vans, Ford Transits and Ford Transit Connect models, was processed.
John Ferguson, commercial vehicle fleet sales executive, based at Middlesbrough, was responsible for processing the order and delivering the vehicles to Coast & Country.
John said; “It was a pleasure doing business with Coast & Country Housing. They knew exactly what they wanted and we were able to adhere to their specification and provide the vehicles within the timescale allocated.”
“We have forged a good working relationship with Coast & Country and we look forward to strengthening this in the future.”
The Commercial Centre team at Middlesbrough is responsible for providing vehicles to a wide portfolio of businesses in and around Teesside.
In addition to customers being able to take advantage of a portfolio of new and used Ford Commercial vehicles readily available to test drive, a number of extra services are also available at Jennings Ford, including the adaptation and signage service.
