New Charity of the Year named by Jennings Motor Group
Jennings Motor Group has named The Teenage Cancer Trust (North East) as its Charity of the Year for 2018. Chosen by the company employees, 2018 will see the team taking on various fundraising activities.

Since being founded in 1990 the charity has been providing specialist teenage units in hospitals, training teenage cancer specialists, as well as supporting research. Helping young people aged 13 to 24; seven are diagnosed with cancer every single day. With 28 units throughout the United Kingdom, Jennings Motor Group is set to help the north east area.
To ensure that fund raising gets to a productive start the various departments are planning their fundraising activities. Throughout the year planned events are set to include; raffles, cake bakes, department challenges and sponsored tasks. Teenage Cancer Trust work in numbers

- -48 nurse and youth support co-ordinators supporting young people in these units
- -118,000 people reached via face to face school presentations
- -185 hair 4U wigs designed and styled with award-winning hairdresser Charlie Miller giving every young person the option of a free real hair wig.
Staff raising their game to raise money
Jennings Motor Group has been allocated spaces for the Great North Run 2018 to help raise vital funds. One person running this year’s race is Dave, a Chemical Engineer at Sellafield. Treated for osteosarcoma when 19, he underwent three months of chemo and had to have his right leg amputated. Ten years later he has successfully completed the 2013 London Marathon and 2017 Half Marathon. Set to join thousands at the world’s biggest half marathon he commented: “Now I’m taking on the Great North Run for Teenage Cancer trust, and am delighted to be giving back to the cause that helped me through such a difficult time in my life”. Joining in the fundraising efforts from the Jennings Motor Group is Scott Williams at our Jennings Harley-Davidson dealership in Gateshead. He will be taking part in the gruelling 3 peak challenge later this year! Also announced is Kathryn Stott at Jennings Kia Washington abseiling down the side of a building in Newcastle, as well as staff fundraising days throughout the year.
Throughout 2017 Jennings Motor Group helped to raise over £100,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Culminating in donating a brand new Kia Sportage 2 as the main prize in the annual prize draw, the group helped increase vital funds to keep the fleet of three helicopters in the air.
