A senior manager at Jennings Ford has transferred to take over the reins at another dealership in the region.

David Walker, 51, from Ingleby Barwick, has transferred from the group’s Riverside Road dealership in Sunderland, to take over as general sales manager at the Ford Direct site in South Shields, a branch he was responsible for launching five years ago.

No stranger to the Ford Direct site, the people or the products, on Newcastle Road in South Shields, David will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the branch, overseeing all departments, meeting sales objectives on both a monthly and quarterly basis, in addition to ensuring the highest possible standard of customer service is delivered at all times.

David’s career with Jennings Ford, started 21 years ago when he was appointed as sales controller at the Yarm Road branch in Stockton. Whilst at Stockton David was promoted to sales manager and in April 2004, received another promotion to general sales manager when he transferred to oversee and assist with the official launch of the FordDirect site in South Shields.

In September 2006, another transfer was on the cards for David, who moved from South Shields to head up the group’s new purpose-built supersite on Riverside Road, just off Wessington Way in Sunderland.

David Walker, general sales manager, said; “It’s great to be back at the branch in South Shields. The majority of staff, just like our customers, have remained loyal over the years, so it’s still the same familiar faces.”

Jennings Ford acquired the South Shields dealership in 1995, which was formerly known as Selwoods. In April 2004, the dealership was launched as a Ford Direct site, responsible for selling quality used cars with comprehensive warranty packages.
