New Year sees under 8s football team kitted out in new strips

The New Year brought a brand new set of strips for a local football team and it was all thanks to Jennings Kia, part of the multi-award winning Jennings Motor Group.

Competing in the Russell Foster Youth League, the under 8s team from Farringdon Detached Football Club, have been kitted out in a full set of strips thanks to the Parsons Road-based Kia dealership in Washington.

To mark the recent sponsorship deal, franchise manager David Phillips, paid a visit to Farringdon Community Academy in Sunderland to meet the under 8s team and see them in action in their new strips.

David said: “We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the team.  They are a group of very talented and enthusiastic youngsters and their passion for football shines through when they’re on the pitch.”

Having already played eight games since the start of the season, with a total of six wins and only two defeats to date, team coach Doug Peart, is confident the strips will further boost morale for the youngsters.

Doug said: “We are proud to have such a prestigious dealership as Jennings Kia supporting the team and the club.

“Morale was already high, but delivery of the new strips – which look absolutely fantastic – has given an added boost.”

Farringdon Detached FC was set up in 2003 with one under 16s team.  Over the years, the club has expanded and today has a total of 14 teams covering under 8s boys and girls through to adult teams for both men and women.

Jennings Kia sells the entire new Kia model line-up, with everything including the Picanto, Rio, Soul, Venga, cee’d GT, new cee’d, cee’d Sportswagon, new pro_cee’d and pro_cee’d GT, in addition to the Sorento, Optima, Optima PHEV, Sportage and all-new petrol-electric Niro hybrid on display and available to test drive.
