Parts purchase results in new job for Billy

A recent purchase at Jennings Ford, part of the Jennings Motor Group, has resulted in a new addition to the parts department.
When Billy Phillipson, 29, from Gateshead, paid a visit to his local Ford dealer, to purchase a part for his car, little did he know that the purchase would result in him being offered his old job back with the company.
Six years ago, Billy worked as a parts advisor for the company before he decided to change his career path completely and started working as a bus driver for Go Ahead Northern.
Late night and weekend shifts meant he was missing too much time with his family, so when he was given the opportunity to return to the parts department within Jennings Ford’s dealership, he jumped at the chance.
“I called in to the dealership to buy a part for my car and that’s when I found out there was a job going,” said Billy.
Bill added; “Although I enjoyed working as a bus driver, I was missing too much quality time with my family.
“It’s the same job I used to do six years ago, so I haven’t needed much training, just with the computer system which has been updated since I left, so basically it feels like I haven’t been away.”
Billy’s job entails working as part of a four-strong team and being responsible for all parts deliveries to suppliers, customers and across the group, in addition to liaising with customers and dealing with enquiries at the parts reception desk.
Bob Markey, parts supervisor at Jennings Ford in Gateshead, said; “We are delighted to welcome Billy back on board and as part of the team once again.”
