Promotion leads to managerial role in aftersales for ambitious Andrew

A promotion has resulted in a member of staff at Jennings Ford, part of the multi-award winning Jennings Motor Group, taking on a managerial role within one of the company’s aftersales departments.

Andrew Gills, 49, from Winlaton in Gateshead, has taken on the role of bodyshop manager at the group’s accident repair centre located at the company’s Eslington Park dealership.

Offering a range of aftersales facilities, including accident repair, service, MOT and parts, the Gateshead-based dealership also sells the entire Ford new car and commercial range, as well as a variety of quality used vehicles to customers.

Andrew has 33 years’ experience in the motor industry and for the past six year he has been further developing his skills and knowledge working as assistant bodyshop manager at the Jennings Ford dealership.

Andrew said: “I am delighted with the promotion and looking forward to the many challenges ahead.”

In his new role as bodyshop manager, Andrew will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, which will include working alongside a nine-strong team, achieving monthly targets set out by Jennings Motor Group, recruiting new staff, ensuring customers receive an exceptional service, as well as work consistently being carried out to the highest standard and quality.

Andrew added: “The aim of the accident repair centre is to get vehicles repaired reliably, cost effectively and to the highest standard.

“Customers can relax in the knowledge that all work is carried out by Ford-trained and approved technicians, using the latest advanced diagnostic equipment and genuine Ford parts.”

Andrew’s very first taste of employment was when he landed a job in sales for a national motoring and cycling retailer.  A career in aftersales came about after he completed a Mechanical, Electrical & Trim course and went on to gain experience and knowledge working in both service and accident repair for a number of motor dealers across the region.

Commenting on Andrew’s promotion, group service and bodyshop manager, Brian Johnston, said: “Andrew’s extensive experience and knowledge in aftersales made him the ideal candidate for the position of bodyshop manager at the dealership.”
