Sales boost for Motability

JenningsFord has reported an increase in Motability sales at the group’s Sunderland and Gateshead dealerships.

Motability sales at the Riverside Road dealership are reported to be up 65% compared to the same year to date period last year.

From January to September 2008, 227 Motability customers took advantage of the Motability service at Jennings Ford, compared to 137 customers for the same period during 2007.

Gary Brown, motability specialist based at the Riverside Road dealership, just off Wessington Way in Sunderland, puts the increase in sales not only down to the March and September registration changes, but also as a result of an influx of new customers.

“The two annual registration plate changes have always had a significant impact on Motability sales at the dealership, in addition to this there has been an increase in the number of new customers being attracted to the Ford range,” said Gary.

“This year, however, has been the best year to date with a total of 47 units being delivered to customers during the month of March and 37 as a result of the recent September plate change.”

Meanwhile, the group’s Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead has also reported an increase of 56% with 110 units being sold from January to September 2008, compared to 71 units for the same period during 2007.

In order to qualify for a car through the Motability programme, the customer must be in receipt of one of the following benefits: the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DVLA), War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMA) or currently driving a government vehicle, trike or mini.

Despite the whole range, including the Ford Ka, Fiesta, Fusion, Focus, C-MAX, Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy being available to customers who are eligible to purchase a vehicle through the Motability scheme, the Ford Focus and C-MAX continue to top the popularity chart.

The Focus Zetec model comes with alloy wheels, front fog lights, air conditioning, remote central locking, electric door mirrors and a quick clear front windscreen, while the C-MAX is available with air conditioning, remote central locking and electric door mirrors.

The North-East based motor group also offers a number of additional services, including the JenningsFord Home Visit Scheme and an Adaptation Service.

If a customer is unable to visit the showroom personally, the Home Visit Programme allows appointments to be made at their convenience and in the comfort of their own home.

The Adaptation Service involves vehicles being specifically adapted to meet individual needs and requirements.
