Posted on 20 Sep 2012
British Motorsport Champion and Guinness World Record holder, Paul Swift, will be treating customers of Jennings Ford to an afternoon of high speed skilled stunts and manoeuvres in the all-new Ford Focus ST model.
An exclusive event for local media, which has been organised to mark the launch of Ford’s latest and most-keenly anticipated hatchbacks will be taking place on Friday 21st September and a customer event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 22nd September starting at 3.30pm at the group’s Cargo Fleet Lane dealership in Middlesbrough.
Its launch also coincides with a starring role in the new all-action movie adaptation of British TV cop classic, The Sweeney.
Throughout the afternoon the all-new Ford Focus ST will be put through its paces as customers witness a number of high speed stunts, including handbrake parking, J-turns, a ‘Strictly come driving’ car ballet, in addition to a nail-biting ride on 2 wheels.
Paul Swift, 33, from Darlington, said; “It’s great to be invited to perform at the launch of the new Focus ST. We have just taken delivery of our ST and the car is superb. With 250bhp to play with it’s going to be a great show. We perform shows all over the world, so it’s really special to be performing one in my local region.”
Any retail customers who purchase a Focus ST model on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September, will receive a free Paul Swift ‘Stunt Driving Experience Voucher’ worth £249.
In addition to this, customers who test drive any car in the new Ford range will also be given the opportunity to win a ‘Stunt Driving Experience’ with Paul Swift.
There will also be face painting for the children, refreshments and free cinema ticket ‘give-aways’ to see The Sweeney.
Based on the 1970s hit TV series, the new 2012 British police drama stars Ray Winstone as Jack Regan and Ben Drew as George Carter. The flying squad detectives lead a cast of crime-busting officers as they give chase to London’s criminals in black Ford Focus ST hot hatchbacks.
Colin Massey, sales manager at Jennings Ford in Middlesbrough, said; “This is going to be a fantastic event for all the family. We are delighted to be able to showcase the all-new Ford Focus ST with such an exhilarating event, which I’m sure our customers will enjoy.”
Powered by an advanced, direct injection 2.0-litre, all alloy, turbocharged, four cylinder EcoBoost engine, the new Ford Focus ST develops 250PS, yet remains capable of returning 39.2mpg and C02 emissions of 169g/km – 20 per cent better than its predecessor.
Unique suspension, non linear variable-ratio steering and performance brakes have all been specifically tuned, while striking central exhaust, imposing trapezoidal front grille and even the Tangerine Scream paint option which were inspired by the original Ford Focus ST Concept, have been brought to production.
