Staff feast for charity

Kind hearted staff at the Jennings Ford and Mazda dealership in Sunderland have been digging deep to raise money for charity.
This year, the Riverside Road dealership located just off Wessington Way, has raised more than £500 for various charities.
Throughout the year, assistant accountant, Ann Copeland and café assistant, Edel Holyoak, have been donating their spare time and cooking culinary delights for members of staff.
A variety of cakes, crumbles, curries and chilli con carne are just a few delights on the menu for staff who in return, have been making small donations to charity.
This year’s Children in Need event prompted Ann and Edel, to put another delicious spread on for staff, which has raised £300.
“Preparing and baking the food is hard work, but it’s all worth it when we add up what we have raised for charity,” said assistant accountant, Ann Copeland.
Ann added; “We’ve still got donations coming in, but we’re hoping to raise around the £300 mark.”
“We particularly enjoy the major charity events such as Comic Relief and Children in Need, because all the staff are always keen to take part – it’s a great way of having fun at work and at the same time raising as much money for charity.”
Over the past four years, Ann and Edel have been cooking up their culinary delights and in the process raised just under £2000 for charities.
Other charities who have benefited from the kind hearted staff at JenningsFord and Mazda, includes the Percy Hedley School in Newcastle, St Benedict’s Hospice in Sunderland, the Children’s Baby Unit at Sunderland Royal Hospital and Marie Curie Cancer.comments powered by
