Staff loyalty reward and two promotions make it a triple celebration at Lookers Ford Direct
There have been a trio of reasons for celebrations within the aftersales department at Lookers Ford Direct, the new name for Jennings, and it’s all down to a staff loyalty milestone achievement and the announcement of two internal promotions at the company’s South Shields-based dealership.

It was a double celebration for 32-year-old, Christopher Hodson, from Jarrow, who has achieved 15 years’ loyalty, as well as receiving a promotion from service advisor to assistant service manager. William Orange, 46, from South Shields, also received a promotion from motor vehicle technician to workshop controller.
Duncan Oliver, service manager at the Newcastle Road-based branch, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to firstly congratulate Christopher for his dedication and commitment to the company over the past 15 years, during which time he has worked exceptionally hard and been an asset to the team at South Shields. Secondly, I’d like to congratulate both Christopher and William on their recent promotions, they both deserve recognition for their continuous hard work and I’m sure they’ll continue to succeed in future years.”
Christopher joined the dealership at the age of 17 when he was taken on as an IT apprentice. 12 months later, and with a number of National Vocational Qualifications under his belt, he was given the opportunity to gain experience in aftersales and transferred to work within the service department as a customer service advisor.
The recent promotion to assistant manager has resulted in a number of new responsibilities for Christopher whose job role now entails assisting service manager, Duncan Oliver, with the day-to-day running of the branch, in addition to overseeing a team of 18 members of staff, including 11 Ford approved motor vehicle technicians, three service advisors, three drivers, and a valeter.
Christopher said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to broaden my experience and knowledge, which is great. I’m very much looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
William began his career with the company six years ago when he was appointed as a motor vehicle technician.
The recent promotion to workshop controller will see him being responsible for allocating specific jobs to the team of approved motor vehicle technicians and ensuring work is carried out to the highest possible standard, processing paperwork, as well as ensuring Health and Safety procedures are being adhered to at all times.
William has more than 25 years’ experience in the motor industry behind him. At the age of 16, he embarked on a two-year Youth Training Scheme, prior to completing a three-year apprenticeship and becoming an approved motor vehicle technician. The next 19 years saw William gain valuable experience working for a number of motor dealers across the region, prior to joining the service department at South Shields.
