Two members of staff at Jennings Ford in Stockton have been rewarded after achieving a combined 65 years’ loyalty to the company.
Paul Barker, 55, from Eaglescliffe, works within the service department as a workshop controller, and is celebrating 40 years’ loyal service to the company and 42-year-old Andrew Donachie, from Stockton, who works as part of the distribution team within the parts department has achieved 25 years’ loyalty at the group’s Yarm Road dealership.
Paul’s career at the Jennings Ford dealership started after leaving school at the age of 15 and he embarked on a five-year Auto Technician Apprenticeship.
Following completion of his Apprenticeship, Paul worked for a couple of years as a technician within the service department. Later, he transferred to work as a service receptionist prior to being promoted to workshop controller, the same position he holds today.
“This is the one and only job I have had since leaving school. I have always enjoyed the work I do and the people I work with, which is why I have remained loyal for so many years,” said Paul.
Meanwhile, Andrew started working at the dealership on a warehouse and distribution YTS (Youth Training Scheme) in 1987 and earned £25 per week.
The Youth Training Scheme was brought into operation in 1983 and was the former name in the UK for on-the-job training courses for school leavers aged 16 and 17.
After completing the scheme, Andrew was taken on the books full-time which not only boosted his weekly wage, but it also gave him the opportunity to broaden his experience and knowledge within the busy parts department.
Today, Andrew works as a driver within the busy parts department.
To mark the duos loyalty achievement, a special presentation took place at the Yarm Road dealership where aftersales manager, Ian Grant and parts manager, Andy Cave, presented the loyalty vouchers to Paul and Andrew.
The Yarm Road dealership in Stockton sells the new Ford model line-up and a wide range of quality used cars which are on display and available to test drive, in addition to boasting an in-house service, bodyshop and parts department.
