Members of staff at Jennings Ford in Sunderland have been rewarded for achieving a staggering 150 years’ loyal service between them.
The seven-strong, loyal team of employees have all relocated from the former North Hylton Road dealership to the Group’s new, purpose-built Riverside Road dealership, which is based just off Wessington Way.
Sales controller, Janet Gray, from East Boldon, commercial sales executive, Derek Parsons, 60, from Newcastle and technician, Howard Wallace, 53, credit controller, Jean Goodson, 62, assistant accountant, Ann Copeland, 51, commercial sales administrator, Michelle Cummin, 38, senior technician, Alan Naisbett, 35 all from Sunderland, were rewarded for their loyalty when Nicky Dalkin, operations director for the Jennings Motor Group, paid a visit to the dealership to present staff loyalty vouchers.
Sunderland born, Howard Wallace, joined the branch as an apprentice mechanic 34 years ago.
“Back in the 70s when you were taken on as an apprentice, you had to complete a five year course. It was very different from today’s apprenticeship programmes and of course we didn’t have the benefit of computers. Nowadays, paperwork can be processed at the simple touch of a button.”
Howard added: “I’m over the moon with my vouchers. It’s great to have your hard work recognised in such a rewarding way as this.”
Nicky Dalkin, operations director, said: “As well as having a history of customers who have been loyal to the company for decades, the majority of our employees are too!”
