Tip top service results in award for staff

Jennings Ford’s service team at Gateshead have proved they’re the cream of the crop, having just received an award for their hard work and continuous commitment throughout 2008.
The service department, based at the Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead, has beaten tough competition from the group’s other dealerships throughout the region and scooped the ‘Service Department of the Year’ award for 2008.
Nicky Dalkin, operations director for the Jennings Motor Group, said; “Over the years we have implemented many internal awards for individual members of staff and departments, all of which have been warmly received by employees.”
This is the second consecutive years the ‘Service Department of the Year’ award has been in operation. Last year’s winners were Washington who were first to achieve the award.
The award was initiated in recognition of achieving extremely high standards not only in workmanship, but also as a result of consistently achieving outstanding levels of customer care throughout the year.
Despite facing tough competition from service departments at the group’s Sunderland, South Shields, Stockton and Middlesbrough dealerships, service manager, Ian Stewart and his team at the Eslington Park branch in Gateshead, scooped first place.
The presentation took place when Nicky Dalkin, operations director, paid a special visit to hand the award to staff.
“We are delighted to win the award for best service department, which is a true testimony to the team at Gateshead who constantly strive to provide the best possible service to customers at all times,” said service manager, Ian Stewart.
Criteria for the award included; achieving outstanding levels of customer care, meeting objectives set out by Ford Motor Company, training achievements, surpassing levels of health and safety, in addition to taking steps to protect the environment.
Operation director, Nicky Dalkin, went on to say; “The service department at Gateshead consists of service advisors, warranty clerks, workshop supervisors, drivers, parts representatives and technicians, all of whom have contributed to achieving this award.”
Last year a total of 10,565 vehicle repair jobs passed through the service department at the Eslington Park dealership, a significant contribution towards more than 65,000 vehicle repairs which were carried out across the group. In addition, more than 8000 MOTs were carried out across the group.
In addition to the service department, the branch at Gateshead also operates a bodyshop and parts department. 2008 saw 896 vehicles being repaired at Gateshead’s bodyshop with over 6500 vehicle repairs across the group. Other bodyshop departments are located at South Shields, Stockton and Middlesbrough.
During 2008, the group’s parts departments also sold just under £13M worth of Ford, Mazda and SEAT parts.
