A man from Redcar has won the ultimate triathlon prize – one year’s use of a Mazda CX-7 in the Mazda London Triathlon Epac Media Competition.

Mark Atkinson was presented with the Sports Crossover in Aurora Blue at his local dealership, JenningsMazda in Middlesbrough. He also received £350 of triathlon equipment.

“I was absolutely delighted when I found out I’d won,” Marc declared. “The Mazda CX-7 is a fantastic car – it’s luxurious and practical as well as being an exciting drive. It’s ideal for travelling to triathlons as it is sporty and spacious enough to carry all my kit.”

Dave Horsley, business manager at JenningsMazda’s Cargo Fleet Lane dealership presented Marc with the keys to his prize car. “We are really pleased for Marc,” commented Mr Horsley. “The Mazda CX-7 is a powerful, dynamic Sports Crossover with sports car like performance and the presence and stature of a sports utility vehicle. There is ample space for five occupants to travel in comfort, while the sports utility-style rear seat functionality and boot space make it perfect for those needing plenty of room for extra storage.”

The Mazda CX-7 is priced from £24,595 on-the-road and comes with a generous level of equipment as standard. Every vehicle includes features such as leather seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats and a bespoke BOSE® premium surround sound audio system with six-CD autochanger and nine speakers.

The turbo-charged 2.3-litre engine generates 260ps and 380Nm of torque, giving the CX-7 a top speed of 130mph and the ability to sprint to 62 mph in just eight seconds.

The Epac Media competition was run in association with IMG and the Mazda London Triathlon. Sport fans and London Triathlon entrants were encouraged to download the free London Triathlon Epac, a multimedia package containing information on triathlon as well as training tips and answer a simple question to be in with a chance of winning the Mazda CX-7. Four runners-up received a Triathlon Starter Pack worth £350. The pack comprised a Speedo wetsuit, Asics trainers and free race entry to a triathlon of their choice.

“It has been an honour for us in our first year of business to be associated with a global event like the London Triathlon and its headline sponsor Mazda,” commented Ken Wood, CEO at Epac Media. “We wanted to encapsulate the enormity and richness of the Mazda London Triathlon and deliver an experience that fans would enjoy. We would like to congratulate all the winners of this year’s Mazda London Epac competition and wish them all the best with their respective prizes.”
