An ambitious youngster is steering towards a successful career after embarking on an Apprenticeship programme at Jennings Ford in Gateshead.

Kieran Mullan, 17, from Winlaton, near Blaydon, has been given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications and gain practical hands-on experience as a result of being taken on as a Parts Apprentice at Jennings Ford’s Eslington Park dealership in Gateshead.

Embarking on the two-year Parts Apprenticeship was the perfect option for Kieran who, after leaving St Thomas More School in Blaydon with a number of GCSE’s and a Diploma in Engineering, was keen to achieve additional qualifications, but also wanted to gain practical experience and start earning a regular wage.

Kieran said, “The Apprenticeship Programme was the perfect solution for me as it offers youngsters the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience, work towards achieving extra qualifications and also allows you to start earning a regular wage, which is great.

“The fact that I have also been given the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge at one of the region’s longest established firms is an added bonus.”

At the end of the Apprenticeship, Kieran will achieve NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 in Vehicle Parts Operations and will become a fully fledged parts advisor.

Working alongside a five-strong team, Kieran is responsible for taking telephone enquiries, liaising with customers, checking stock and assisting senior members of staff with estimates for the dealership’s bodyshop department.

Jennings Ford operates parts departments at its Gateshead, South Shields, Stockton and Middlesbrough dealerships.
