Due to go under the hammer at an Indianapolis auction house, the first Ford Mustang hardtop with serial number 00002 is expected to be sold for a large sum. Only preceded by a single soft-top version, the pre-production prototype was delivered to a Canadian dealer accidently.

After 14 owners it is being sold by current proprietor Bob Fria, the owner since 1997. Under his stewardship the Mustang has undergone an intensive two year restoration programme to return the car to the condition it was originally found in 1964 including overhauling the 2.8 litre engine.
