"Focus owners are clearly happier with their cars than those who drive an Astra" autoexpress.co.uk
Two of the nation’s bestselling cars have gone head to head in a national motoring publication to find out which is best – the Ford Focus or Vauxhall Astra. Auto Express has compared two similar spec cars, the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 115PS Zetec and the Vauxhall Astra Exclusiv 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX Start/Stop, of which the Focus has a RRP cheaper by £505.
In the like for like comparison, the Ford Focus was found to have a wider range of hi-tech options to help you when motoring including self-parking, autobrake, lane departure warning and road sign recognition with Bluetooth only coming as standard on a mid-spec AstaTech upwards. With cool Blue interior lighting and sold interior the Focus beats the Astra, as does the stand out exterior of the Focus.
With a larger range of greener engines, the Ford Focus has a greater selection of road tax free engines that the Astra range, thanks in large to the award winning EcoBoost engines including the “punchy performance” 1.0L petrol option
Ford Focus drivers were found to be happier with their cars, the Ford Focus finished 19th compared to the Vauxhall Astra’s position of 39th in the Driver Power 2012 reliability and satisfaction survey – Auto Express commented “Ford Focus drivers are clearly happier with their cars than those who drive a Vauxhall”.
