Ford voted most trusted UK car brand
Posted on 08 Dec 2015
A recent online survey by research group Future Thinking looked into the trust that UK consumers have of different car brands. With a response rate of 2,735 individuals Ford came out on top with 29% followed by German brands BMW (27%) and Audi with 25%.
Following the recent emissions scandal Volkswagen was found to have a trust rate of just 10% alongside Volvo and Porsche. Finishing bottom of the poll were Smart and Suzuki with 3%.
Ford scored especially high with over 35 year olds who trusted the Ford brand the most, whilst under 18s found German brands Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW most trustworthy.
Speaking about the survey findings Lisa Bedwell Senior Director at Future Thinking commented “The best-selling car brands for the first quarter of 2015 according to SMMT data were Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen and the success of car sales for Ford is also reflected in it being the most trusted brand, especially for older generations.
“By comparison, despite strong sales, trust in Vauxhall is certainly a lot lower and it is an indication that there is work to be done in improving their brand’s image. For Volkswagen where UK sales have dropped in the last month amid the emissions scandal, the level of trust is certainly now far lower than would have been expected”.
