Kia concepts revealed at Detroit Motor Show

Following on from the recent images of the new Kia Picanto on testing, Kia has unveiled two new concept cars at the North America Motorshow. Teasing an all-new Kia Niro that is billed as a HUV – Hybrid Utility Vehicle and a full fat Kia Telluride SUV, Kia is keeping up with the current SUV trends in the market.

Aiming to offer ultra-low efficiency, an economised hybrid engine will produce under 90g/km CO2 tol power the Kia Niro using Kia’s new eco-car platform for the first time. Featuring a 1.6l engine offering 105bhp, it will also feature a 43 bhp electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery.
Based on the award winning Kia Sorrento, the new Kia Telluride will feature seating for 7 in comfort as well as a high level of specification. The concept features a wide opening rear door rather than the traditional hanging version – Jennings Kia are not convinced that the final version will feature this style of rear door. Powered by a 3.5l V6 electric motor the Telluride is thought to be set to offer a mpg of around 30mpg.
