In a move away from the current range the introduction of an Active edition blends the Fiesta into a crossover to join the growing sector. Featuring side skirts, larger bumpers, raised roof rails and protective looking metal trim, the Fiesta Active will compete against existing entrants including the Citroen Cactus.

A high specification luxury Vignale edition sees Ford include the new Fiesta in the footsteps of the recently introduced Mondeo, Edge, Kuga and S-Max. Speaking about the introduction of the Fiesta Vignale, Jim Farley commented “We can do it in scale now because we have Vignale on [other models] so a dealer can really invest money into it,” he added. “We’ve seen it grow now on Mondeo, where it is now close to 10% of the overall sales and on S-Max it is above 10%.”

Engine options are set to include a 1.0l three-cylinder EcoBoost with 99bhp, 123bhp and 138bhp with a six speed manual gearbox that keeps emissions as low as 95 g/km. Diesel engine options include a 1.5l engine 84bhp with low emissions of 82 g/km.
