New Ford Fiesta ST revealed
After a long wait Ford has finally revealed details and images of the highly anticipated Ford Fiesta ST. Beating the 0-62 mph time of the current edition by 0.2 seconds at 6.7 seconds, it is set to match the current top spec ST200 model.
Due to be officially revealed to the world at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Ford Fiesta ST is set to feature the latest Ford 1.5l EcoBoost 197bhp three-cylinder engine that has the ability to adjust steering, stability and the engine.
Taking features that have been developed for the Ford GT including fuel injection and drive mode technologies, the Fiesta will feature Normal, Sport and Track drive modes. Speaking about the upcoming launch of the performance version of the UK’s best-selling car, Joe Bakaj, Ford of Europe Product manager, commented the new Ford Fiesta ST will “deliver the most versatile, fun, engaging and rewarding Fiesta ST driving experience yet”.
Sharpening the responsiveness of the throttle pedal and engine mapping, Sport mode offers the driver a truly responsive experience, while the noise produced increases. Utilising Ford’s Electronic Sound Enhancement system, the active exhaust control value is opened to raise the exhaust note and engine noise within the cabin.
Mirroring the existing version, the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST will be available in the choice of 3 or 5 doors, while SYNC3 voice control system is to be included that can be operated using simple finger swipes. A premium Bang & Olufsen Play sound system is set to be available as an option.
