New Ford Mustang leads Team Sky in Tour de France 2016

Viewers of the Tour de France 2016 may have noticed something different about Team Sky this year – their support cars. Following the recent announcement that Ford has signed a new agreement to supply the support vehicles the latest range including the Ford Mustang have been helping the team on their journey to Paris on 24th July 2016.

The Ford support vehicles assisting the team including two time winner Chris Froome are the all new Ford Edge, Kuga, S-Max, Mondeo as well as the stunning new Ford Mustang. Additional support is provided by the award winning Ford Transit range to carry all the kit and equipment needed to keep the team on the road.
The fleet of Ford Mondeos on route each day have been specially adapted through the suspension to carry the 400kg of bikes that are needed each day to get the team through the Alps and other mountainous regions. Whilst alloy plates 5mm thick have been added to protect the cars as they complete the various stages.
With a top speed of 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and a 435bhp engine, the Team Sky Ford Mustang 5.0l V8 Fastback will not be tested to its limit as it will stay at the pace of the team members that it is there to support.
