Set to feature the latest Mazda SkyActiv technology, it has been rumoured that the petrol engine will offer diesel-like MPG figures. Using Spark Controlled Compression Ignition, the engine operates in two ways; the spark plugs can burn petrol in the traditional method or switch to a diesel style compression ignition. The 2.0l engine will offer 187 bhp, it will remove the sooty emissions. Two traditional petrol and diesel engines will be carried over from the existing edition.

Improved specification

Specification will include the latest Mazda technology. Competing with the like of Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3, the New Mazda3 is set to include a full-width infotainment system, ample leather and a soft-touch dashboard. A lowered driving position adds to the sporty feel and improved cabin space.

Speaking about the upcoming reveal, Kevin Rice, Mazda Europe design director commented “The concept had been penned with production techniques in mind. We have a recent history of not just producing concepts for concepts’ sake”. He added, “So yes, manufacturing tolerances and techniques have been incorporated into this project since the very beginning.”
