New SEAT Arona due to arrive in 2017

Following on from the successful launch of the Ateca SUV, SEAT has announced that 2017 will see the introduction of the Arona to its range. Based on the Ibiza, it is set to be built at the Martorell plant near Barcelona.

Taking its name from an area in the south of Tenerife, the new Arona is set to be released to coincide with the launch of the new Ibiza model in late 2017. Spied undergoing recent road testing it is set to take on the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke in the ever growing smaller SUV market.

Speaking about the impending launch of the new SEAT Arona, Luca De Meo, CEO of SEAT commented “The Leon, the Ibiza and the new Arona together with the Ateca, are going to strengthen SEAT from a commercial, financial and brand image standpoint”. He went on to add “Since it is the fastest growing segment and represents a firm step to become the third pillar of the company, with the families of Ibiza and Leon.” Next Spring’s Geneva Motor Show is set to be the first time the new SEAT Arona is revealed to the public.
