Scott steps up for charity
An intrepid member of staff at Jennings Harley-Davidson® in Gateshead, has agreed to take part in a challenge - and it’s all in a bid to raise money for charity.
On Monday 25th June, ex-forces member, Scott Williams, 30, from Stockton, who now works as a motorcycle sales executive at Jennings Motor Group’s Gateshead-based Harley-Davidson® dealership, is preparing to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the company’s nominated charity for 2018 – Teenage Cancer Trust in the North East.
Weather permitting, Scott will undergo the 25-mile circular route, which entails taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, in under 12 hours. One of the oldest walking routes in the UK, the peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Scott said; “This is my first real challenge since leaving the army more than two years ago, and I’m really looking forward to it, but most importantly, I want to raise as much money to help teenagers in our region who are battling cancer.”
Scott’s initial aim was £500, and thanks to sponsorship from members of his family, work colleagues and customers, in addition to a Just Giving page he’s set up https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Scott-Williams44, he’s already achieved 80% of his target.
Sonia Graham from Teenage Cancer Trust said: “We wish Scott the best of luck for his forthcoming challenge, it’s fantastic that he is willing to take this on to raise funds to support young people locally.
“Young people with cancer need specialised nursing and emotional support. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity meeting this critical need. Right now we can only help half of young people with cancer with our world-leading nursing.”
This isn’t the first time Scott has taken part in challenges for charity, in the past he has also completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, as well as a half marathon while serving in Afghanistan.
Teenage Cancer Trust is a registered charity which provides life-changing care and support to teenagers and young adults, so they don’t have to face cancer alone.
Jennings Harley-Davidson® officially opened for business in July 2016.
