SEAT register trademark for future electric model

Posted on 03 Aug 2017

A recent application to trademark a name by SEAT has led to speculation that an electric vehicle due after 2020 could be known as the Born-E, E-Born or Born. With two electric vehicles due to join the SEAT new car range in the near future, SEAT has recently been registering various names.

Sharing a name with an upmarket area of Barcelona, El Born seems a perfect match for the introduction of an All-New SEAT electric vehicle. Making a break from the tradition of SEAT naming their vehicles after Spanish towns and cities, the Born is simply a suburb. With inclusion of the letter E to the name set to differentiate the vehicle from the standard petrol and diesel varieties, SEAT look set to separate the names for the electric range. Not set to arrive at dealerships until 2021 or 2022, the new electric vehicle could be joined with models across the Audi, Skoda and VW brands.

Ahead of the result of the public vote to name the All-New SEAT SUV, SEAT has been busy also registering the short-listed names ahead of the final three and winner being announced.
