Posted on 13 Mar 2018
Ahead of the UK launch of the All-New Ford Fiesta ST, Top Gear has been taken for a spin. The previous generation was named Top Gear Car of the Year 2013 beating the McLaren P1; can it live up to the high expectations? Jennings Motor Group takes a look.

Invited to a top secret Ford test facility in Lommel, Top Gear opened with the line “This is one little car that punches way above its weight”. Before going any further we think that they like it!
Under the bonnet is a 1.5l three cylinder turbocharged engines that produces an impressive 197bhp and 214lb of torque. With a top speed of 144mph and a 0-62mph time of just 6.7 seconds, the new generation is lighter than the previous one and set to have improved handling.
Stepping inside and the All-New Ford Fiesta ST is fitted with the obligatory Recaro bucket seats that can be fully adjusted. A chunky steering wheel complements the rubber and metal pedals. If you wish to annoy your neighbours then the B&O speakers will do the job perfectly.
Opt for the ‘Performance Pack’ and enjoy launch control. Accessed through the steering wheel controls, leave others standing as the lights turn green as you manage the torque and power. Remaining active until deactivated, you can ‘launch’ until your heart’s content.
Top Gear only got to test the All-New Ford Fiesta ST as passengers and would “Normally avoid passenger rides like the plague”, but summed up with a perfect line-“this could be the best Fast Ford in a generation”.
The All-New Ford Fiesta ST is set to arrive at Jennings Ford later in the year. For further information about the latest Ford new car range call 0333 414 9750 to speak to a Ford specialist. Alternatively, visit a dealership in Middlesbrough, Stockton or Gateshead.
