Ford MyKey Explained
The new Ford Fiesta features MyKey, Ford’s new programmable key, that can restrict the cars top speed, reduces the maximum audio of the audio system, and the audio system all together when passenger and driver seatbelts are not in use.
Parents can also prevent drivers from deactivating vital safety features including Active City Stop, which can help prevent or mitigate low speed collisions and Electronic Stability Control.
The car settings are adjusted to the owner’s requirements depending upon which key is used and limiting various elements accordingly including speed warnings between 40 and 80 mph.
The introduction of MyKey comes when the Government is looking to introduce measures to improve road safety amongst young drivers. Drivers under the age of 25 are twice as likely to be involved in a fatal car accident and 46% of parents of 17 to 20 year old drivers told a Ford commissioned survey that speed is the number one concern when their children are driving alone in the car.
Ford MyKey is currently only available on new Ford Fiesta models - complete the enquiry form below to find out when MyKey is added to other Ford models.
